GENERAL YARD KART RULES

1. Frame:
    a. Any non-suspension production or non-production frame allowed.
    b.Must be made of steel – No aluminum or exotic material.
    c. No suspension allowed.
    d. Engine must be mounted behind the driver.
    e. Wheel base = 49”-51”
    f. Max width = 45” (+/- ½”)
2.Cage:
   a. Minimum 4 point roll cage securely welded to kart frame.
   b. Minimum 3” head clearance with helmet on.
   c. Cage must be constructed of steel no smaller than ¾” O.D.  No conduit cages.
   d. Roll bar padding is recommended.
3.Body:
   a. Bodies are mandatory and may resemble any production or race type vehicle.
   b. Fiberglass, aluminum, plastic or steel bodies allowed.
4. Bumpers:
    a. Front and rear bumpers required.
    b. Maximum 1”O.D. steel tubing.
    c. Lowest rail of bumpers may be no higher than 5" from ground.
    d. Front bumper not to exceed the width of the frame and to be no taller than 8”.
    e. Rear bumper not to exceed maximum tread width of tires.
    f. Bumpers must have closed ends with no sharp edges.
5. Nerf Bars:
    a. Nerf bars are required and may not protrude past the tire sidewalls.
    b. Maximum 1” OD steel tubing (No aluminum, conduit, wood, or plastic).
6. Safety:
    a. All karts must have a kill switch within reach of driver.
    b. All karts will have a kill switch mounted at rear of kart for safety personnel.
    c. Minimum 4 point seat belt.
    d. Aluminum/plastic racing seat is recommended.
7. Wheels/Hubs:
     a. Any aftermarket racing wheels are allowed.
     b.Maximum width = 10 3/8”.
     c. Maximum diameter = 6”.
     d. Aluminum hubs are allowed.
     e. Wheel spacers are allowed
8. Tires:
    a. Turf tires or any type of racing tires allowed.
    b. Any compound allowed.
    c. Grooving allowed.
9. Brakes:
    a. Hydraulic disk type brakes are mandatory on rear axle.
    b. No scrubber or drum type brakes allowed.
    c. Brakes have to work properly. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
10. Axle/Drive:
     a. Live axle only.
     b. Chain and sprocket guards recommended.
11. Fuel:
     a. Pump gasoline only. No alcohol.
     b. No performance enhancements or additives allowed.
     c. Aftermarket aluminum tanks are recommended and must be vented away from engine.
12. Steering: Quick release steering wheel.


 Adult Yard Kart
1. Age: 14 and up
2. Engine:
    a. 4-cycle – Factory rated up to 212cc maximum.
    b. May have any modifications to the motor. 

    c. Billet Flywheel allowed

3. Exhaust: Any pipe allowed as long as it is not a safety issue.
4. Clutch: Any centrifugal clutch allowed.


 Junior Yard Kart
1. Ages:
    a. Junior Yard Kart - 10-14 
2. Engine:
    a. 4-cycle – Factory rated up to 212cc maximum ‘clone’ style or Predator stock motors only.  
    b. Removal of governor allowed.
    c. Billet Flywheel allowed
    d. Must use stock air cleaner.
    e. Carburetor must meet AKRA box stock rules.
    f. No performance enhancing modifications to internal components of engine.
    g. No porting, polishing, or grinding on the head.
    h. Must use stock muffler. No modifications allowed. 
    i. Must use unmodified stock push rods, rocker arms, valves, lifters, crankshaft, piston, connecting rod, and camshaft.
    j. Valve springs to be a maximum of 10.8lb and will be checked according to AKRA standards.
    k. Must be pull start only – No electric starters.
3. Clutch: Steel drum centrifugal clutch only. No disc clutches.
